Wonderful
Himalayas, Thar desert, Indo Gangetic plains offer
variation in the climate and scenery across the north part of
India. Himalayas hold some of the beautiful hill stations of the
subcontinent. Delhi, capital of India is also situated in
north India. Before Britishers shifted their capital from
Calcutta to Delhi, this historical place already had seen
extreme political activities for centuries. Being directly
related to the history of North part of India, Delhi has many
historical monuments. Some of these monuments are having
managed to bear the vagaries of time but many have decomposed.
Close to Delhi is Agra. The Mughals had this place as
their capital before they shifted to Delhi. Agra is famous for
the best monument of love the Taj Mahal. This white
marble structure is an architectural wonder and is the most
photographed monument in the world.
Close to
Agra are double cities of Mathura and Vrindavan. These
two places are important pilgrimage for Hindus. In Uttar
Pradesh, on the banks of sacred river Ganga is located
Varanasi. Varanasi / Banaras as it is known have been very
holy for the Hindus as they think this place to be abode of Lord
Shiva. Even as Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and
Kashmir has many hills stations, the dry Thar Desert of
Rajasthan holds historic cities of Jaipur, Jodhpur, and
Udaipur. The palaces, forts and gardens & lakes add color to
this otherwise unfruitful area. The cities of Rajasthan mean
Royal splendor in their structure and have been attracting a
major portion of foreign tourists. North part of India covers
states like Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal,
Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
