Rudraprayag is located on the flowing together of the rivers Mandakini and Alaknanda. Rudraprayag is home to the Rudranath Temple that is dedicated to Shiva. Near the temple is the place where Narada, an ancient Indian wise reputed to be the discoverer of the veena, a musical instrument, is supposed to have contemplated.

Named after Rudra (Lord Shiva), Rudraparyag is located at the holy flowing together of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, at a distance of 34 kms. From Srinagar (Garhwal). The reunion of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers has an exclusive beauty of its own and it seems as if two sisters were acceptance each other. It is believed that to master the mysteries of music, Narad Muni worshipped Lord Shiva, who appeared in his Rudra Avatar (manifestation) to bless Narad. The Shive and Jagdambe temples are of great sacred importance. Till just, Rudraprayag was a part of district Chamoli and Tehri were conjoined to form Rudraprayag as a new district. The existence of two separate routes for Badrinath and Kedranath Dham from Rudraprayag make great importance to the place. The entire region is blessed with enormous nature beauty, places of religious importance, takes and glaciers.

Most Popular Attraction in Rudraprayag:

Koteshwar Temple:
At a distance of 3 kms from Rudraprayag and on the sacred bank of river Alanknanda is located the Koteshwar temple is in the form of a cave temple. There are many idols which have been created naturally. It is supposed that before going to Kedarnath Lord Shiva meditated here. Throughout the months of August and September, thousands of devotees come here to worship Lord Shiva.

The Confluence:
The confluence (meeting) for river Mandakini deriving from Kedarnath Dham and river Alanknanda originating from Badrinath Dham is a beautiful sight to observe. The confluence has an enormous religious meaning and thousands of pilgrims come here to take a sacred dip. The temple of Goddess Jagdamba and Lord Shiva are also major attractions for tourists and pilgrims.

Nearby Jollygrant at a distance of 110kms.

Rail:
Rishikesh at a distance of 140 Kms. Well linked by rail with all major cities of India.

Road:
