Ranthambore is a
national park and tiger reserve in Rajasthan of western India.
Ranthambore National Park is located in the eastern part of
Rajasthan at a comfortable distance of 130kms from Jaipur, which
is also the nearby airport. The close town and railway station
is at Sawai Madhopur, 11 km away. Regular visitors think
Ranthambhore Park, as one of the best national parks in the
world to see Bengal tigers, wild, in their natural environment.
But here you don't just see tigers; you see Jhumru, Machhli,
Sharmeelee, Bahadur and so on.
The park lies at the edge of a flat terrain, and is surrounded
to the north by the Banas River and to the south by the
Chambal River. There are numerous lakes in the park. It is named for the
historic Ranthambore fortress, which lies within the national
park. It is famous for its tiger population, and is one of
India's Project Tiger reserves. Main wild animals found in the
national park include the tiger, leopard, nilgai, dhole, wild
pig, sambar and chital. It is also home to large range of trees,
plants, birds and reptiles.

Air:
Jaipur at 145 kms is the nearest airport from Ranthambore
wildlife sanctuary.
Rail:
Ranthambore National Park is around 11-kms away from Sawai
Madhopur railway station.
Road:
A good links of buses connect Sawai Madhopur, the nearest town
from Ranthambore to all the major cities within the state of
Rajasthan.
