North
India presents a huge variety of fascinating tourist
destinations from snow covered peaks of Himalayas to finest
piece of Architecture and royal monuments of Mughal age,
from fine and colorful havelis, forts and palaces of Rajasthan
along with safari in desert region. Geographically North India
has great assortment. The towering majesty of the Himalayas, the
wonderful mountainous beauty of Himachal Pradesh and
Kashmir, the agriculturally rich plains of Punjab, Haryana
and the Ganga sink of Uttar Pradesh that has nurtured
many ancient civilizations form an extremely rich visual
variety.
The history of this land of the Vedas goes back at least 5000
years, the passage of the millennia peppered by the arrival
of explorers, envoys and traders. They all contributed to the
cultural kaleidoscope that north India is nowadays, a very
colorful destination for the modern tourist. North India has its
own meaning due to diverse culture; wonderful monuments,
wildlife, rivers, Himalayas; religion and climate.
The complete north India from North West to north east is also
very important, intentionally and from country's safety point of
view as well, as it borders Pakistan in the North West, China in
north and north east, Nepal in and Bhutan in north-east.
Uttar Pradesh is the union of the three mighty religions of the
world Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. Varanasi is one of the
oldest cities in the world and to this day one of the holiest of
the Hindu pilgrimage centres, followed by Gaya.
Part of this State was called the Middle Land in Buddhist
literature, sacred by the presence of the Buddha and Mahavira
2500 years ago. It was also in Uttar Pradesh that Muslim culture
truly blossomed in eternal literature, dance, music, art and
design.
Rajasthan is a State with completely different features. Its
medieval forts and palaces, the very characteristic traveling
desert lifestyle and stark landscape are unique in India. The
mountainous States of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal
Pradesh are dream destinations for tourists since they
combine the overwhelming beauty of the Himalayas with a
pleasantly distinctive ethnic culture.
