Taj Mahal stands on
the bank of River Yamuna, which otherwise provide as a wide
trench defensive the Great Red Fort of Agra, the centre of the
Mughal Empire, awaiting they stimulated their capital to Delhi
in 1637. The Taj Mahal is one of the most gorgeous masterpieces
of design in the world. Agra placed about 200 km south of New
Delhi.
Taj Mahal was built by the fifth Mughal emperor,
Shah Jahan in
1631 in the memory of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, a Muslim
Persian princess. She passed even as associated her husband in
Behrampur in an operation to crush rising, after giving birth to
their 14th child. Her death crushed the emperor. When Mumtaz
Mahal was alive, she requested the emperor that he should build
the Taj, should not marry again, be kind to their children and
he should visit the tomb on her death anniversary. He kept the
first and second assures. Construction of Taj Mahal began in
1631 and was finished in 22 years. Twenty thousand people were
placed to work on it.
The architectural multifaceted is comprised of five major
elements. First major element is the Darwaza or main gateway,
second is the Bageecha or garden, third is the Masjid or mosque,
forth is the Naqqar Khana or rest house, and last one is the
Rauza or the Taj Mahal tomb. The real Tomb is located inside the
Taj. The Taj rises on a high red sandstone base with a huge
white marble porch on which rests the ground flanked by four
narrowing towers.
